Nanango Shire's Bumper Growth Rate
Over the 20-year period between 2001 and 2021, Nanango Shire is projected to grow by an average of 1.2% per annum.

This is the highest growth rate projected for any South Burnett Shire and one of the best in rural Queensland.

The Office of Economic and Statistical Research (OESR) is a Queensland Government agency that produces a wide range of research reports. Many of these reports are designed to assist forward planning by other other Government organisations and by the general public.

The OESR draw their data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics and from many other sources. These include reports provided by Queensland local government authorities, by Queensland State Government departments and by Federal Government departments.

In April 2004 the OESR released a report which summarises prior census data collected about Nanango Shire and which compares some of this data to Queensland state averages. The report also makes some forward projections based on this data for the period 2001 to 2021.

Briefly, the OESR believe that the population of Nanango Shire will increase from 8,351 in 2001 to 10,622 in 2021 - an annual average growth rate of 1.2%. The report also illuminates areas where Nanango Shire outperforms Queensland state averages and other areas where there's ample opportunity for future growth and development.
